FLIPR Penta

High-Content Cellular Screening System

Life Sciences Product Launch

At some point not too long ago, I, a Communication major from Santa Clara University, was tasked with launching the new FLIPR Penta High-Content Cellular Screening System for Molecular Devices. As simply as I can describe it, this laboratory workhorse plays a crucial part in the drug development process by capturing the movement of cells, offering insight into how certain drug compounds affect cellular activity. For example, if a certain compound makes cardiac cells stop moving, then that compound is not good for the ol’ ticker.

Real-time screening of iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes or neurons, GPCRs, and ion channels

Building on the success of the industry-leading FLIPR® platform for monitoring of GPCRs and ion channels, the FLIPR® High-Throughput Cellular Screening System offers a new high-speed camera option and the new Peak Pro 2 software module, allowing you to measure and analyze patterns of calcium oscillations of human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and neurons. Images can be taken at up to 100 times per second and patterns quickly analyzed using more than 30 various measurements.

Cellular activity measured through the FLIPR Penta and displayed in the Peak Pro 2 software module can be seen as “peaks.” Thanks to the new high-speed camera, more “peaks” can be captured, and that’s what I played off when I designed this ad.

Speaking of themes for social media, this is an April Fool’s image I created of a fictional “FLIPR Flipper.”
